An Attitude Of Thanks


   II Chronicles 29:31: 33:16 In the Old Testament sacrifices of thanksgiving were offered.

   I Chronicles 16:4, 41 Some of the priests were even appointed to the office of thanksgiving.

   Hebrews 13:15 In the New Testament the Hebrew Christians were exhorted to offer “the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

   Psalm 54:6;  86:12 God desires genuine thankfulness from the heart.


A Command To Give Thanks


   Ephesians 5:19-20 Paul tells us that it is the duty of every Christian to have a spirit of thanksgiving.

   Colossians 3:16-17 We are commanded to build each other up in the Lord by being thankful.

   Colossians 2:7 Being thankful helps us to stay rooted and grounded in our faith toward the Lord.

   Psalm 100:4 When we come to church and find ourselves bored and unmoved it could be because we came without the presence of heart to be thankful to God for all his goodness toward us.

   Philippians 4:6-7 Notice that the “peace of God” follows prayer and the giving of thanks.

   I Thessalonians 5:18 We should have the desire to be thankful because God tells us it is His will.


How To Give Thanks


   Psalm 34:1 We should give verbal thanks and praise to God in our prayers and our everyday talking.

   Psalm 105:1-2 We should be giving thanks to God in our testimony to others for God's goodness.

   Nehemiah 12:46 Our singing can be used to sing praises and thanksgiving to our Lord.

   Colossians 4:2 We certainly should be giving God thanks every time we go to Him in prayer.


When To Give Thanks


   I Thessalonians 1:3; 2:13 We are to give thanks to God in every situation, and for everything.

   Psalm 95:2 Every time we enter into a spirit of prayer or fellowship we are to bring a spirit of thankfulness and praise.

   Philemon 1:4; I Thessalonians 1:2 We are to be continually, habitually, always thankful.


What To Be Thankful For


   Romans 7:22-25 We all should be thankful for the victory we can have over the sin in our body.

   Colossians 1:12-13 God should be hearing our thankful hearts because of His grace in saving us.

   Hebrews 1:13-14 We should be grateful and thankful for the angels that continue to minister to us.

   Philippians 4:19 We ought to be unceasingly thankful for God's never ending supply for us.
