There are many who believe that there will be one great judgment for everyone by God. They believe all the saved, unsaved, the living, the dead, the Jews and the Gentiles all will be judged together. This is not what the bible teaches. This outline will give us the most important judgments in the bible.
JUDGMENT OF THE CROSS
I Corinthians 15:3 God is holy and God must punish sin. The bible teaches us that Christ took our punishment. Romans 5:6 Christ died for the ungodly. He took our judgment.
Psalm 22:1, 3; Isaiah 53:6, 10 Who is the Judge? Almighty God, the Judge of all the earth.
I Peter 3:18 Who is being judged? The Lord Jesus Christ.
I Peter 2:24 Where did this judgment take place? On the cross of Calvary.
Romans 5:6, 8; 6:23 What was the result of this judgment? Eternal Life for the believer, along with forgiveness of sins and never having to be judged or condemned because of our sins.
JUDGMENT OF THE BELIEVER
I Corinthians 11:31-32 Sin is something that should not be ignored by the believer. When we sin we should confess, repent and move on. When we ignore sin God will chastened us like a good parent.
I Corinthians 11:28, 31; I John 1:9 Who is being judged? Who is the subject? The believer.
I John 1:9; Psalm 139:23-24 When does this judgment take place? Any time we sin in our life time.
I John 1:9; I Corinthians 11:28-32 What's the result of this judgment? Chastisement or fellowship.
THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST
Romans 14:10; II Corinthians 5:10 This judgment is for believers only. It involves only those works or deeds done or not done while we were saved. This judgment does not involve our sins.
II Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10 Who is the Judge? The Lord Jesus Christ.
II Corinthians 5:10 Who is being judged? Only the believers, the church of Jesus Christ.
I Corinthians 4:5; I Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelation 19:7; 21:9-10 When and where does this judgment take place? Shortly after the rapture, in heaven and probably in the city of New Jerusalem.
I Corinthians 3:14-15 What are the results of this judgment? Either we receive or lose rewards.
THE JUDGMENT OF THE NATIONS
Matthew 25:31-32 Who is the Judge? The King of Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 25:32 Who is being judged? The Gentile nations left after the Tribulation.
Matthew 25:31; 24:30 When and where does this judgment take place? On earth at Christ's return.
Matthew 25:41, 46 What are the results of this judgment? The saved enter the kingdom, the lost are eternally damned in hell fire.
THE WHITE THRONE JUDMENT
Revelation 20:11-15 The great and final judgment for all unsaved people who have ever lived.
Revelation 20:12 Who is the Judge? The Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 20 1-11 When and where does it take place? In heaven and after the kingdom age.
Revelation 20:15 What is the result of this judgment? The lost will be cast into the lake of fire.
