In times past most of us would give some time during the end of the year or the first of the year to make some new “resolutions” in order that we might better the way we look, live, or feel physically.
I thought we might look at a few “resolutions” that would make a positive change in our spiritual life.
Resolution- A formal expression of opinion or intent made.- WEBSTER
Luke 2:30; Luke 19:9 Salvation is not a program, a plan, or a process but it is a person, Jesus Christ.
Acts 4:12; Romans 1:16 To be saved we must understand that salvation is only found in Jesus Christ and not an understanding of bible doctrine or getting our lives more in tune with God by being better.
Hebrews 6:9-10 Regarding true salvation a believer becomes responsible to act accordingly.
Acts 16:30 A great question and one that should be asked by every person. The answer is also as great as the question. To believe- is to have confidence in the truth, the existence, and the reliability of something (or someone) without having absolute proof. - WEBSTER
I Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul makes it clear that Jesus Christ the person is the way we get saved and the gospel is not just about a message, it is about the person of Christ.
I Timothy 2:4; II Peter 3:9 An argument by some people is that God will save the elect, the chosen or only some people but not all who really want to be saved. Paul and Peter tell a different story.
Philippians 3:3-4; Matthew 26:36-41 Both Jesus and the Apostle Paul tell us in different ways that the flesh will lie and deceive us into thinking right is wrong and wrong is right. It is of the utmost importance that the Christian understand the spiritual warfare between the flesh and the spirit if we are to have a sure confidence in Jesus Christ and in the salvation that we have received in Jesus Christ.
I John 2:3 There are several things that John writes about for the Christian to grab hold of in order to have confidence and security in our relationship with Christ. Do we make the attempt to obey God?
I John 2:10 Do you sincerely love your brothers and sisters in the Lord more than unbelievers?
I John 4:13; John 14:26 Can we understand the bible and do we believe it to be God's holy word?
I John 5:10-13 God has given us a eternal record regarding where eternity dwells. The scripture says that eternal life is in Jesus Christ and if we have Him we have eternal life.
I Corinthians 4:2 When we talk of serving God in any capacity we must remember that we are stewards for God while here on earth. A steward is a person who handles another persons finances and property and is accountable to that person.
Ephesians 5:16 The word redeem means to buy back. This passage is reminding us that time is valuable and we must take advantage of the time God gives us to serve Him and make our time count.
Romans 13:11-14 Paul is warning Christians that time is fleeting by and we should make sure we are not wasting it. He tells us to wake up and serve the Lord and stop satisfying the flesh.
Romans 12:4-8 We all have gifts that God gives to us to serve Him and serve others, are we serving?
I Corinthians 16:1-2 In regards to our financial service, it is expected that we give with a heart of thanksgiving according to the blessings that God has provided us.
II Corinthians 8: 1-7 We are also encouraged to give sacrificially to missions. We must remember that our giving is suppose to be a measure of our faith so that God can bless us for our faithfulness.
