Matthew 26:67; 27:26-31 There can be no question that the suffering of Jesus Christ, leading up to and including the crucifixion was terrible to say the least.

Matthew 27:33-35 We see our Lord being nailed to the cross without drugs or pain killers.

The lessons for us regarding our Lordís suffering go way beyond feeling sorry for the pain He endured. The lessons for us are the reasons He suffered and died, the guiltless for the guilty.

Isaiah 53:5-6; I Corinthians 15:3 Jesus suffered and died for our sins as foretold by Isaiah.

Galatians 1:3-4 He voluntarily gave Himself up and took the penalty of our sins.

I John 1:8-10 Throughout the bible we are reminded that we are sinners and need a savior.

Romans 8:3 Through His selfless sacrifice on the cross, He condemned sin through His death.

Romans 6:3-7 Because we that are saved are in Christ, we actually have died with Him and the bondage of sin in the Ďold maní was destroyed making it possible for us to say no to sin.

John 3:16; Romans 5:8 The overriding reason that Jesus gave Himself for our sins was the love that God the Father had for mankind.

Ephesians 5:2 Not only did The Father love us but Jesus Christ loved us enough to die for us.

I John 4:9-10 As we think on the suffering, dying and resurrection of our Lord, let us think on the love of God the Father and God the Son that show us how great a love they have for us.

I Timothy 2:3-6 Godís desire is that every person in the world will come to a saving faith.

I John 2:1-2 Because of Godís concern for the human race as a whole, He sent His dear Son as a propitiation ( to regain good will, to cause to become favorable ) for our sins.

John 14:6 Jesus had to suffer and die because He is the only way to God the Father in heaven.

II John 9 John makes it as clear as a cloudless sky, donít abide in the doctrine of Christ and you are lost, abide in the doctrine of Christ and we have both the Father and the Son.

Philippians 2:5-8 Jesus provides us with the greatest example of being humble in suffering.

I Peter 2:19-24 The suffering Jesus endured is an example and an inspiration for us to withstand suffering with patience.

Ephesians 5:2 His example should inspire us to walk in love as Jesus loved us.

II Corinthians 8:1-2, 8-9 Jesus sacrifice is designed as to inspire believers to give to others.

II Corinthians 5:14-15 We should be inspired and motivated by the suffering, dying and resurrection of our Lord to serve Him and others out of love for Him who gave Himself for us even before we ever heard of The Lord Jesus Christ.
