   (Example) - A thing or person to be imitated, a model, a pattern, a precedent. - Webster




   Matthew 16:24 What better example can we have than Jesus Himself. Here He tells us to follow after His example of self-sacrifice and possible suffering.

   Galatians 5:24 (Affections) - a mental state of fondness, a tender feeling. - Webster

   (Lust) an excessive desire to satisfy physical longings.- Webster

   The Christian must have the attitude of dying to self to put down worldly, fleshly tendencies.

   John 13:15 Christ gives us this wonderful example of humility and servitude toward others.

   Hebrews 12:2 This verse tells us to look unto Jesus as an example and see His meekness and love of others in the mist of being unjustly accused, abused, beaten, and crucified.




   Acts 20:32-35 Paul had a life that was a great example to all believers. He was unselfish in his service to those he met. He taught us to serve Christ and each other out of love and not greed.

   I Corinthians 4:15-17 Paul exhorts the believers to follow his example regarding growing spiritually in the Lord. Timothy was sent to this church to teach them through Paul’s life how they ought be growing for Christ.

   I Corinthians 10:31; 11:1 Paul gives us one of his “secrets of success” to a growing ministry.

   Paul’s approach to all people was that of humility, self-denial and being non-judgmental.

   Philippians 3:13-17 Paul encouraged the church to strive for maturity and not let the issues of the past influence their spiritual race to be fully mature.




   II Peter 2:4-6 The Old Testament speaks to us in many ways and leaves us examples to follow and not follow.

   I Corinthians 10:6-11 The nation of Israel is a history of a people who God loves deeply but their history and legacy became one example after another as to how not to please God.

   Hebrews 3:14-19; 4:11 The writer of Hebrews once again refers to Israel falling short of entering into God’s rest because of their unbelief. We are warned not to follow their example.




   I Timothy 4:12 As a member and leader of the church, Timothy is encouraged by Paul to have a Christian lifestyle that will be an example to all those that will observing him in his daily walk.

   Titus 2:1-8 Paul writes to the members of this local church regarding how they ought to be an example to those that need teaching and encouragement.

   I Corinthians 15:33 This verse of scripture is vitally important in maintaining a good, sound testimony and example to all who will watch you in your Christian walk. Those people we associate with in school, at work, at play or in church will have a tremendous influence on our behavior and our attitude toward our Lord. Guard your heart carefully and pick your friends wisely because we are someone’s example and they are watching us.
