THRONES AND JUDGMENTS
                                                            June 6, 2010

   The idea that God will have a "general resurrection" and then a "general judgment" of the saved

then the lost is incorrect. The bible clearly speaks of certain "judgments" and certain "thrones"

whereby God will judge the saved and the lost.

                                                                THRONES

   (1) II Corinthians 5:10 Paul says that "we" (all believers) will appear before the throne of Christ

where we "receive" things done in our body while on earth. This is "The Judgment Seat of Christ".

   I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:7-8; 21:9-10 This throne will be in the new home of

Christ's bride, "New Jerusalem" which will eventually be hovering in the air over the earth.

   (2) Matthew 25:31-33 The second throne that judgment will come from is Christ's "Throne of

Glory" which will be from Jerusalem when Christ returns to set up His Kingdom. Jesus will judge

the nations of the earth before His thousand year reign as King: see II Thessalonians 1:7-10.

   (3) Revelation 20:11-15 The third throne in scripture from which comes the judgment of God

 is found in Revelation where John is writing about those things that will take place in the future.

This throne is the final judgment for all the lost souls that never trusted God or Jesus Christ, "The

Great White Throne". At this judgment place in heaven, all the lost souls will be cast into the "lake

of fire" forever and ever.

                                                      BELIEVER JUDGMENTS

   There are three judgments the bible mentions regarding believers and why they must be judged.

   (1) I Peter 2:24 We must be judged for our "sin" problem which keeps us seperated from God.

   Galatians 3:13 The law tells us that sin must be paid for by the death and blood of a sacrifice.

   Romans 8:1-2 Jesus Christ has paid the debt, satisfied the law, and has justified the believer.

   The "Believers Judgment" for sin is PAST being settled on the cross of Christ at Calvary.

   (2) John 1:11-12 The next judgment for the believer is to be judged as a "son". When we get

saved and Jesus puts us into His family He doesn't take away the "old man", our sin nature. We

must battle the tendency to sin every minute of our lives, see ( Romans 7:1-25), spiritual warfare.

   I John 1:5-10 Speaking to believers, John writes to us about fellowship with Christ and the need

of each one of us to confess our sins speedily in order to have fellowship and peace with God.

   I John 2:1 Here John encourages us to not sin, but when we do he tells us to take it to Jesus.

   Hebrews 12:5-7 The judgment for being "sons" of God is for unconfessed sin in our lives. The

punisment is what the bible calls chastisement ( to punish) from the Lord. Chastisement can come

in many forms, it could be financial, emotional, physical, spiritual loss of fellowship etc.

   I Corinthians 11:28-32 Paul is giving the church at Corinth a rebuke about their sins while they

are taking part in the Lord's Supper. He tells us that we are to judge ourselves in regards to our

sins through confession to God. However, he then tells us that we will be chastened by God if we

do not judge ourselves and confess our sins to Him.

   (3) II Corinthians 5:10 The last judgment for the believer will be as His "servant". It will not be

a judgment about our sin or a trial to see if we are saved or not. It will be a place where Jesus

Christ will tell us personally where we failed Him and where we served Him faithfully and rewards

will be given accordingly to every believer.

   I Corinthians 3:9-15 At the Judment Seat of Christ we will be judged according to our good

works verses our lack of good works. Good works means that which is done spiritually for the

cause of Christ only, not for pleasure, not for earthly gratitude or for recognition but for Him only.
