CROSSING JORDAN

   Joshua 3-4:24 The story of God’s people finally crossing the Jordan river and entering into the “Promise Land” is not only a fulfillment of God’s promise, but is a spiritual picture or shadow of the people of God crossing over from this life to the next life. Let’s compare what happened to God’s people then to what God expects to happen to His people now.

 

 

DON’T FORGET

 

   Joshua 4:5-7 God had the nation set up a “memorial” pile of stones in order for the people to be reminded of what God had done for them on their miraculous trip to the promise Land.

   II Peter 1:12-15, 2-7 Peter said we are to be continually reminded what God has done for us.

   I Corinthians 4:17 We are to remember the things (doctrine) that Paul taught in the churches.

 

 

 

THINGS NOT TO FORGET

     ·      SALVATION EXPERIENCE

     ·      GOD’S PROVISION AND KEEPING

     ·      GOD’S PROMISES

     ·      OUR ETERNAL DESTINY

 

BE PREPARED

 

   Joshua 4:4 Joshua chose twelve men who were to take the twelve stones for the memorial, but he “prepared” them for this special service to the Lord. We must be “prepared” before we serve.

   Romans 12:1 Before we serve God we must sacrifice ourselves to Him as a clean vessel.

   Joshua 4:12-13 Joshua had also prepared God’s people for battle in order to take the land.

   Ephesians 6:11-17 We are warned that our life as Christians is a war and we must be prepared.

 

 

  

THINGS TO PREPARE FOR

    ·       SERVICE

    ·       WITNESSING

    ·       GIVING OURSELVES AND OUR FINANCES

 

   

STAND FAST

 

   Joshua 4:3, 10 Just as all the priests that held the ark stood firm until all was finished, we also are called to stand firm and fast until we have finished our race to the other side.

   Acts 2:41-42 Just as the early Christians took a stand on Christ and God’s Word, we must also.

   I Corinthians 16:13 Paul warns us to be watchful and stand fast in the faith and act like men.

   Ephesians 6:13 God’s Word tells us that we need the entire armor that God supplies to stand.

   ·        THE PURE PERFECT INSPIRED WORD OF GOD (KJV 1611) 

   ·        THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST

   ·        THE SINLESS LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST

   ·        THE BLOOD ATONEMENT OF JESUS CHRIST

   ·        THE BODILY RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

   ·        THE SOON RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST

   ·        PRAYING IN THE NAME OF JESUS
