Have you, as a Bus Captain or as a Bus Worker or a
Bus Driver, ever asked yourself, “Why am I doing this? Why
bother trying to have a Bus Route?”
Well, I can honestly say that as both a Bus Captain
and as a Bus Director, I have! And as I sat down late one Friday
night while trying to get myself “pepped up” about my own Bus Route
and at the same time try to figure out a way to get my other
Captains and workers excited and committed to their own Bus Routes,
I had to sit down and ask myself the question, “Is it really
worth it to run a Bus Route?”
There on that sofa in my den, I begged God to show me
an answer that I could then share with all the other Bus Workers
that would somehow dispel the air of complacency that seemed to
plague our Bus Ministry. And as I prayed, God reminded me exactly
why I needed to have a Bus Route that brings in boys and girls and
moms and dads to Church every Sunday morning.
I hope that what God showed me will be an
encouragement to you to not only keep your Bus route, but to give
God your BEST efforts in every aspect that you are personally
involved in on your Bus Route!
In Matthew 28:19 and 20, the “Great Commission” is
given to the disciples of Christ.
There, the Bible says, "Go ye therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even
unto the end of the world. Amen."
In this "Great Commission", we are to...
1:
“Teach all nations…”
a: Teach them about their sin.
b: Teach them about the Saviour.
c: Teach them their need to repent of their sin
by believing on Christ Jesus as their
Saviour.
2:
“...baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost...”
a: Teach them to not be ashamed of the One who
has saved them.
b: Teach them to be obedient to our Lord’s
command to those who accept Him as
their Saviour to be baptized.
c: Teach them to identify themselves with their
Saviour instead of with the world.
3:
“. . .Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever
I have commanded you...”
(see also II Timothy 3:16)
a: Teach them Bible Doctrine.
b: Teach them Bible Proofs and Evidences.
c: Teach them Bible-based Characteristics and
ways of life, a way of improving
their life and moving toward a right state of living
“...correction...”.
d: Teach them Bible-based standards as
instruction in righteousness - convictions,
integrity, purity of life, righteous living -vs-
convenience of living.
e: As have been taught, so we are also to
teach others (see I Corinthians 9:14).
4: We are to be Soul-Winners, but it takes more than
just Soul-Winning to fulfill the
Great Commission.
a: We are to WIN THEM, then BAPTIZE THEM, and
then TEACH THEM TO
DO THE SANE THING WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO DO.
5: So, “Why Have A Bus Route?”
a: Because you are Soul-Conscious! (Proverbs
11:30)
b: Because these people that you win MUST be
taught to obey the Lord in order to
grow!
c: Because they need somebody who will care
enough about them to see that they
come to Church each week so they can be taught how to obey
the Lord!
d: Because a Bus Route not only gives you a
place to go Soul-Winning each week,
but it also provides you with the means to get your
convert to the House of God
so they can hear the Man of God preach the Holy Word of
God so that they can
in turn, live for God!
e: Because a BUS Route enables you to better
fulfill the Great Commission
commandment!
1: It teaches you to be Obedient to God.
2: It teaches you to be Dependant upon
God.
3: It teaches you to be Responsible to
both God and man.
4: It teaches you to remain Teachable by
God.
5: It teaches you to remain Thankful
unto God.
Will YOU be willing to do what God would have you do
and start a Bus Route??
