DEUTERONOMY 10:1-22
I. The commandments of God are given again for Moses to keep. (1-5)
A. The Ten Commandments are given in the same order, and say the same things, as the original.
B. Moses places these tablets inside of the ark. (verse 5)
1. These commandments remained in the ark from then on.
2. There is a great search today for the ark – and the tablets inside of it.
II. The Tribe of Levi is separated “…to bear the Ark….” (verse 8).
A. Aaron died, and is succeeded by his son, Eleazar. (verse 6).
- it was Moses and Eleazar who numbered the people in Numbers 26:63.
B. Aaron’s tribe (Levi) was not given land because they were to be solely dedicated to God, the Ark of God, and the commandments of God. (verse 9).
C. From out of the nation of Israel, an entire Tribe was called and separated to the service of God.
III. The requirements of holiness are for the nation, not just a tribe in the nation. (11-13).
A. Moses is to be the shining example before the people. (11)
B. What does God require of each person in Israel? (12)
1. Fear God
2. Walk in all of His ways.
3. Love God.
4. Serve God.
5. Keep the commandments (verse 13)
IV. Moses praise God before the people. (14-22)
A. Everything in the world belongs to God. (14)
B. God is above all gods. (17)
1. He is not impressed with earthly greatness.
2. He cannot be persuaded by earthly riches.
3. He is aware of the less fortunate. (18)
- Moses advises the people to consider the less fortunate because they were the less fortunate in Egypt.
C. God is to be the object of your attention. (20-21)
1. The people are to “cleave” to Him. (20)
2. He is the source of their honesty.
3. God is the object of their praise. (21)
4. God performed the miracles around you.
Conclusion – Moses remind the people that they went into Egypt with 70 people, and they are entering the Promised Land with 601, 730 people. (22)
