APRIL 11TH, 2004
JOHN 5:18-29
Introduction: Everytime the Lord Jesus shouted, someone was raised from the dead.
- John 11:43-44, Matthew 27:50-52, and I Thessalonians 4:16.
I. There is a unique bond between God the Father and God the Son.
A. This bond is a bond of love.
1. The Father loves the Son (John 5:20)
2. This is repeated in 10:7.
3. And again in 15:9.
4. And again in 17:23.
B. The Lord Jesus has been given authority by God the Father:
1. All judgment has been given to the Lord Jesus. (5:22)
2. The honor of all men goes to the Lord Jesus. (5:23)
3. The life of all men is in the Lord Jesus. (5:26)
C. According to the Bible, the Lord Jesus is equal to the Father.
1. The New Testament Jews understood that this was His claim. (5:18)
2. Honor to One is considered to be honor to both. (5:23)
3. The Lord Jesus is THE Prophet, Priest, and King.
4. If you dispute the God-hood of the Lord Jesus – you dishonor God. (23)
II. There is power in the voice of the Lord Jesus.
A. The dead hear His voice.
1. There was a time when we were dead in sin – but the Lord Jesus spoke.
2. The deceased Christians are waiting for the voice of the Lord.
B. The voice of the Lord gives life.
1. In a sense, the Word of God is the voice of the Son of God. (John 1:14)
2. We need life in our homes.
3. We need life in our churches.
4. We need life ourselves.
C. When Christians appear dead, they need to hear the voice of the Lord Jesus. (24)
1. Do you believe on the Lord Jesus?
2. By faith, do you see the Lord Jesus as Savior?
Conclusion: The Hour is coming…. (28)
- The voice of the Lord Jesus is about to be heard!
